Matt Busch has signed a deal with SQP publishing to release a brand new art book! Haven't you always wanted to draw that tormented youth?! Some of you may remember the "How To Draw" tutorials Matt Busch used to write and illustrate for STAR WARS Kids Magazine. As you may know, CONJURE is the first Independent Movie from Matt Busch! It’s a supernatural thriller in which Busch and artist/model girlfriend, Sarah Wilkinson, play themselves. Busch wrote, directed, edited, and even composed the music himself! The movie is complete and you'll be able to see it soon!

Busch is currently in the process of getting a distributor. This is going to be Straight-To-DVD, so you’ll be able to order it online or rent it at your local video store. Matt Busch has completed over a dozen Darth Vader related illustrations which are featured in a new book from IDG Entertainment- AVAILABLE NOW! The biggest contribution was illustrating a short story by fan fave Karen Traviss detailing the events shortly after EPISODE III! You can order this book online HERE!

Straight from PMK'S IMAGINATION, comes a collection of Edgar Allen Poe stories called NEVERMORE! What makes this book unique? Well, it happens to be illustrated by some of the top comic book illustrators in the industry! Mike Grell! An introduction by Steve Niles! Some of you folks may remember the SHI / FIRST WAVE crossover covers that Matt Busch did a few years back, as well as some art for the SHI: Year of the Serpent Tourbook. Well, fellow artist/model/love-of-his-life, Sarah Wilkinson and Busch have collaborated on may projects in the past few years, but this marks the first event where they have actually created a piece together: A licensed SHI lithograph poster!

Sarah modeled as SHI, and also co-painted the piece with Busch. The prints were first availableat the recent San Diego ComiCon International convention, and it’s scheduled to be the next PREVIEWS catalog, shipping in November.

Heads up! The latest issue of JUXTAPOZ Magazine includes a photo of Matt Busch's DAISY DUKE painting from the Dirty Detroit show last February at the Tangent Gallery. The show was selling posters of that piece, but the original is already owned by former Kid Rock DJ, and current pop star Uncle Kracker. It was only a matter of time before this happened. This Valentine weekend is the annual Dirty Detroit show at the Tangent Gallery in downtown Detroit! Be warned, this art show is not for the faint of heart! None of the art is considered 'pornographic', or at least that's how they bill it, (they use 'erotic art' instead) but there is definitely some sexy and crazy stuff (though not necessarily in that order).

As for Matt Busch, he'll have some of his more risqué piece on display and for sale, as well as a limited number of Daisy Duke prints available! Okay, no one should start calling Matt 'professor', but some big news has happened in his life and career.

Many of you are aware of Matt Busch's teaching, but this web site usually focuses on his work outside of the classroom, most of which is professional illustration in the entertainment industry. However, sharing his skills and techniques with others to help them achieve their dreams and goals is extremely rewarding to him. Over the years, Matt Busch has taught many college courses at Columbus College of Art and Design, College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and Macomb Community College- the latter of which was very instrumental in his own studies early on.

In the past few years, Matt's attention has focused towards Macomb, as it's the school that he feels most at home, and it has a killer Media and Communication Arts program where he really is an asset. In fact, he has been teaching there as a temporary full-time instructor for the passed two years.

The Point- Macomb College has recently offered Matt Busch a permanent full-time position, and he has accepted.

So, what does that mean with everything else? "What about STAR WARS? What about MattBusch.com? He's just going to teach now?"

For those of you who are fans of his work, not much will change. For one, he's been temp full-time for the last two years, now that he's permanent full-time, the hours are technically the same. That being said, it's true that he's committing his priorities to the college.

However, being that he teaches a skilled trade, it's essential that he stays in the industry and keeps his skills sharp, so he can always pass on what he knows to students.

NJune 20th is the release of the eagerly anticipated HULK movie from director Ang Lee! Matt Busch is producing a lithograph poster with Dynamic Forces, commemorating the movie exclusively for the United Kingdom and German markets! After starring with Joshua Griffin in a yet to be released parody from the makers of TheForce.Net, TROOPS, and DUALITY, Matt Busch was invited to take a bit part in a new, straight-to-video Zombie flick! Directed by Kevin J. Lindenmuth and produced by Brimstone Media Productions, this film called BERSERKERS is actually part of a new series of one hour movies (ala Tales From the Crypt style) called GOREGOYLES.

From Matt himself: "My scene was a blast! While most of my shots were filmed chained to a tree, I got to have my head split open, my liver pulled out of my stomach, and I even got to eat my own intestines!

"However, behind the magic, little did any of the cast or crew realize that the tree I was chained to and writhing against for hours was laced with Poison Oak! Just about everyone on the set that day came down with the itchies - but me - well, that's another story.

"I won't go into gory details but let's just say I was hospitalized twice and the many doctors I visited had seen nothing like it! It was the most sivere case of Poison Oak doctors had seen, and I had a second degree infection to boot! I was pumped full of steroids, antibiotics, Benadryl, and wrapped up like a mummy for weeks!

"Now that I'm just getting over it, it is actually funny. All in the name of entertainment, right?"

TWO NEW WITCHBLADE TRADING CARD SERIES!

Top Cow Comics and Dynamic Forces are putting together two brand new trading card series. For these sets, I'm teaming up with Shawn Sheehan to create a bunch of cards. I'm doing all of the pencils and Shawn is digitally painting them. They are coming out great! It's really wild seeing the traditional pencils combined with digital color! Wait until you see the six card set that connects to make one giant image!

I've just finished on a special STAR TREK poster that commemorates the 35th Anniversary of STAR TREK! This baby features sixteen of your favorite characters from the first four series, and pays homage to the original STAR TREK Motion Picture movie poster! More on this lithograph soon.

The wonderful folks at Top Cow Productions and Dynamic Forces are creating a new trading card set featuring all the greats of the Top Cow Universe! In addition to signing and sketching a bunch of cards, I've painted an exclusive Aphrodite IX card!
